OVERVIEW
Design that ships, and scales.
FinOptix represents a fundamental shift in how enterprises understand, manage, and optimize technology spending. What began as an effort to replace an unreliable reporting dashboard evolved into a comprehensive financial intelligence platform, unifying cloud and AI expenditures, forecasting, budgeting, and optimization within a single experience.
Equally transformative was how we approached its creation. By integrating AI into our product development workflow, we accelerated discovery, prototyping, stakeholder collaboration, and design validation, establishing a more efficient path from business requirements to engineering-ready solutions.

THE CHALLENGE
When Data Loses Trust, Decisions Lose Momentum
T-Mobile's existing cloud financial reporting platform, Cloud Insights, was struggling to keep pace with the scale and complexity of its technology infrastructure.
Built on traditional business intelligence tools (Power Bi), the platform required five to six hours to refresh financial data and experienced frequent failures under increasing data volumes. Over time, confidence deteriorated. Rather than relying on the system, stakeholders increasingly turned to colleagues, spreadsheets, and manual reporting to understand technology spending.
The challenge extended beyond performance. Critical financial indicators were buried beneath dense reporting interfaces, cost ownership was difficult to trace, and emerging AI expenditures introduced new layers of financial complexity.
PRODUCT VISION & STRATEGY
From Reporting Dashboard to Financial Operating Platform
Rather than modernizing the existing dashboard, we approached FinOptix as an opportunity to fundamentally rethink how financial intelligence should work across the enterprise.
Our vision was to create a unified platform that transformed complex financial data into clear, actionable intelligence, enabling executives, finance teams, and application owners to understand spending, anticipate financial risks, and make more informed decisions.
The experience needed to serve multiple audiences, each with different responsibilities, while maintaining a consistent understanding of financial performance across the organization.
Four Principles Guided the Experience
Trust Through Transparency
Financial intelligence is only valuable when users believe the underlying data. We made data freshness, reporting periods, organizational scope, and information limitations explicit throughout the experience.
Clarity Over Complexity
Enterprise financial systems naturally contain enormous amounts of information. Our strategy prioritized the metrics and insights most relevant to each audience, progressively revealing complexity when deeper investigation was required.
From Insight to Action
Understanding financial performance is only the beginning. We connected spending visibility to budgeting, forecasting, anomaly investigation, and optimization workflows, creating a direct path from identifying opportunities to taking action.
One Platform, Multiple Perspectives
FinOptix organizes financial information around the enterprise's operational hierarchy, allowing users to move seamlessly from company-wide spending to individual business units, applications, and resources.
